(CNN)Three attackers detonated explosives beyond the Afghan communication ministry in Kabul on Saturday, the interior ministry said.

The attack took place around midday, said interior ministry spokesman Nasrat Rahimy. A crisis unit has been sent to the scene to react.

Some of the attackers had been killed with special forces, Rahimy told CNN, however, the third offender remains fighting authorities in the lawn of the ministry.

There has been no immediate claim of responsibility.

The assault follows several months of relative calm in Kabul and includes just 1 day after US-led peace talks involving Afghan leaders and the Taliban were postponed”to further build consensus regarding who should participate in the conference,” according to a letter by Sultan Barakat of the Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Research in the Doha Institute.
